The gold that is used in Judith Ripka jewelry is 18k celadon or green gold, a color which is derived by a special proprietary formula created by Judith Ripka. Judith created her exclusive 18k celadon gold – using a secret alloy mixed with 18k yellow gold – for her 18k Couture Collection. She chose celadon gold because the look is softer and compliments most skin tones.

Unless one is familiar with the appearance of green gold, the term can be quite misleading. The green color, like rose gold, is very subtle. Green gold is best described as yellow gold with a slightly greenish tint. The classic mixture that produces green gold is an alloy of pure yellow gold, however, Judith Ripka has created her own unique and exclusive recipe to create her one-of-a-kind 18k celadon gold.

Judith Ripka designs all of our jewelry. She designs roughly 2,500 pieces per year, of which approximately 800 styles are taken to market and produced annually.

Judith gets inspiration from everything around her – from her experiences while traveling, the many people in her life, to the flowers in New York City’s Central Park. Judith’s mother, a European couturier, taught her to see the beauty in all the little things around her. Rhodium is a derivative of platinum and is often used to plate sterling silver, as well as white gold. The pieces in our 18k Couture White Gold & Sterling Silver/18k Gold Collections are plated with a very thin layer of Rhodium to help prevent tarnishing and scratching, while retaining the jewelry’s natural luster and shine.

Almost every piece of Judith Ripka jewelry can be made in any color available on our stone chart. The diamonds in the Judith Ripka 18k Couture Collection are G-H in color and VS2 to SI1. The diamonds used in the Judith Ripka Silver Collection are I-J in color and SI3 to I1.
